The Border collie is a medium sized herding dog. These dogs can be of great help handling livestock and are one of the best dog breeds farmers could choose for help as well as for a pet, although for a pet they need a household that is prepared for their personality and herding nature.

This dog breed is characterized by having a double coat which can be of a variety of colors, such as black and white, white with tan and black, white with red and tan, and red and white, among others.

Personality

This dog breed is often said to be one of the most intelligent ones. As a pet, border collies are very energetic and need to have space enough to exercise and play on a daily basis. Also, due to their herding nature, this dog often will tend to react and try to control anything that moves. Due to this reason, this might not be the best choice for a family with children.
